Hey guys,

It's about time we got this thing up and running. I invited most of the key folk that are still around. If there's anyone I missed, feel free to send them an invite.

A couple of things to think about:

The meeting on friday. There's been discussion of having meetings somewhere else other than Panther City this semester. Reasons: On-campus locations are more recognizable and memorable to potential new members. If the meeting is somewhere they've never been, or even heard of, they're probably a lot less likely to come. I personally think it would be great if we could use some dry erase boards somewhere so that we can visualize the group's train of thought. Another thought- I think we should choose a bigger space so we have room to grow. We should start setting new heights for our group.

If not this meeting, maybe by the next one we should try for a new space.

Thoughts?

I agree. Meeting on campus would be a fun experiment. We haven't tried that. It does feel kind of lame to have to meet on campus, but I think the benefits that Soul Pumpkin mentioned about familiarity and dry erase boards outweigh the coolness concern.

I think that is a great idea. The only issue would be where? I suppose a classroom? Palko would probably be completely abandoned at that point, and everyone could disperse to Panther City Afterwards. Another thought is the new bookstore: there are places to sit in the cafe, and there is a "reading nook" upstairs that is essentially always open. But they do not have dry erase boards...

would the bookstore be a bit of a slap in the face to panther city? it seems like it's already kind of tough on them to be in such close proximity to starbucks.

i like the idea of being in a bigger space. i think it worked well the night that we had the "core" group meeting and sat at a table. it felt more productive.
